While working on the updates, I would like to clarify, how to proceed with veterinary ATC codes (national codes starting with Q) you suggest to add to the def.tables.

Currently there are no specific ATC+ codes for veterinary ATC codes (starting with Q) in MBC/NDMS. The national vet ATC codes are mapped whether to:

• Plus code created for that purpose X99XX99 Veterinary substance not registered for human use

or

• Respective human ATC plus code, e.g. QV03AF01 Mesna, Veterinärläkemedel is mapped to ATC+ code V03AF01 Mesna

Please suggest which approach we should pick for new vet ATC codes you suggest to add to 2026 version?

In longer run, should we correct the mapping of already existing vet ATC codes and pick one of the approaches mentioned above or we keep the mapping as it is?

Before making the changes in MBC/NDMS, we would like to clarify and get your feedback to following issues:

1. Would you like to remove or inactivate the following codes:

DV148 Byte av perifer venkateter
DV149 Avlägsnande av perifer venkateter
QV011 Träningsprogram (i)
ZV530 Nationell högspecialiserad vård (i)

These codes do not appear in the proc_feat table therefore the assumption is that the codes will be inactivated and remain in the def.tabels (incl proc_feat table) another five years. Please confirm.

1. We suggest creating one new NCSP+ code WVXX10 Body search or examination for SWE codes XU060 Kroppsvisitation efter beslut enligt lag and XU061 Ytlig kroppsbesiktning efter beslut enligt lag and mapping both SWE codes to one code instead of creating two separate codes. Is this ok?
2. Are the new SWE codes starting with ZM (e.g. ZMC02 Kejsarsnitt utfört i latensfas) meant to be coded as additional codes to the main procedure code and they cannot coded alone? If so, we suggest to create new NCSP+ codes with ‘X’ in the middle instead of ‘S’ for codes starting with ZM
   1. E.g. ZMC02 Kejsarsnitt utfört i latensfas -> ZMXC02 Caesarean section performed in latent phase

3. You suggest adding a new code AK018 Transperineal ultraljudsundersökning av prostata och vesiklar. However, in SWE version code AK018 is currently used with text “Pyelografi, antegrad, med punktion” and it is mapped to NCSP+ code KADB3E Antegrade pyelography. 

   Please advise how to proceed – whether we change the text of current code AK018 and re-map it to KXDE1X Other ultrasound examination of retroperitoneal space and genito-urinary tract as you suggested, or there is a typo in new code which needs to be corrected or something else.

4. For your information, code DD009 had been in use and was inactivated in 2009. Then the text of the code was Perkutan trakeotomi and it was mapped to GBSA00 Tracheotomy. Given that code DD009 is not in active use anymore it will be added to 2026 SWE version as a new code with text Undersökning och behandling i rotationsstol, mapped to NCSP+ code DFXX00 Postition maniputlation for vertigo as you suggested.

Looking forward to getting your feedback (incl your views on the mapping of veterinary ATC codes (see earlier comment)) via Forum (this ticket) or in EG meeting on Sept 2nd.

Most of the updates are done now in MBC/NDMS.

Remaining issues/comments concern:

1. Following SWE ATC codes in dg and proc table had redundant space (double space) in code text (IN rows indicated with XX). The redundant spaces were removed and there were no difference between the code currently in MBC/NDMS and no changes were made. Please double-check if the text of OUT rows is correct and let us know if there is a need to change it. Redundant space may create issues while comparing different tables (SoS vs NMDS):

2. FYI, plus code KASE22 is not in NCPS+ at the moment and will be added while adding the new SWE code KAE22. The same applies to new plus code ZMXX09 which is not currently in NCSP+ (in your table those two plus codes are not indicated as new NCSP+ codes).

3. You suggest adding "Inactivated at 31.12.2030" text to the text of SWE codes DV148, DV149, QV011, ZV530. As you said, the codes will be inactivated 2026 and removed from def.tables starting from 2031 version. In this case we add text "Inactivated at 31.12.2025" in the beginning of SWE code text (and not “Inactivated at 31.12.2030”).

4. XU060 Kroppsvisitation efter beslut enligt lag and XU061 Ytlig kroppsbesiktning efter beslut enligt lag (both mapped to new NCSP+ code WVXX10 Body search) are given OR 0 value. Please let us know if this is ok as there was no information in proc_feat table concerning features of new codes XU060 and XU061.

5. SWE code DT015 will have change of text and mapping to new NCSP+ code ZXXX51 Intraventricular to brain or heart. Code will retain OR 0 value and PROCPR 01V04 Direct CNS medication.

6. You suggest mapping new SWE code:

• AK117 Transrektal ultraljudsundersökning av prostata och vesiklar to KEDE1B Rectal ultrasound examination of prostate, and
• AK118 Transperineal ultraljudsundersökning av prostata och vesiklar to KEDE1A Percutaneous ultrasound examination of prostate.

In addition, you suggest change of the text of SWE code AK046 Ultraljudsundersökning, prostata och vesiklar -> Ultraljudsundersökning, prostata och vesiklar, suprapubiskt retaining the mapping to KEDE1A Percutaneous ultrasound examination of prostate (as AK118).

This means that SWE codes AK046 and AK118 are mapped to KEDE1A and AK117 to KEDE1B.

In all versions KEDE1A has OR 0 and this is what you suggest to add to new SWE code AK118 as well (AK046 has it already).

At the same time, in all other versions KEDE1B has OR 0 similarly to KEDE1A. You suggest to add OR 2 and PROCPR 40V14 Ultrasonography (used only in SWE version) to new code AK117/KEDE1B. Would you like to add PROCPR 40V14 to code AK118 (and AK046) as well in SWE version? And would you consider giving OR 0 value to AK117 to keep it consistent with other national versions?

7. SWE codes SP821, SP822, SP823, SP824 are all mapped to NCSP+ code PHXX90 Other catheter care and will get through mapping OR 0 (as you suggested) as well as PROCPR 40V78 Code not compatible with follow-up. Is adding the latter to codes SP821, SP822, SP823, SP824 ok? If not, mapping needs to be revised.

8. SWE code TPJ30 Perkutan punktion av lymfocele is mapped to PJXX10 Puncture of lymphocele. Through mapping the code would get following features:

• OR 0             
• PROCPR 03S99 Minor procedure in ear, nose and throat diseases
• PROCPR 09S08 Other skin, subcutaneous tissue or breast procedure, not OR procedure
• PROCPR 09V04 Skin excision and biopsy

You suggested adding OR 2 to code TPJ30, no PROCPRs. Please advise if we should remap TPJ30 → PJXX10 so that it has only OR 2 value. Or we keep the mapping as it is and the new code TPJ30 will get the grouping features as indicated above?

Hi,

1. The text in the OUT-rows is correct (and the IN-rows should be corrected).
2. Thank you. My mistake, I missed to write that it was new plus codes.
3. Thank you, it should be “Inactivated at 31.12.2025”.
4. It is ok to give XU060 and XU061 OR 0 value, and your mapping is ok.
5. Thank you, it sounds good.
6. We think that there is a small, but significant, difference between AK117/KEDE1B (rectal) and AK046/AK118/KEDE1A (percutaneous). A percutaneous investigation is very simple while a rectal investigation is a little more demanding so that is why we want OR 2 and PROCPR 40V14 for AK117/KEDE1B, but not for AK046/AK118/KEDE1A.
7. We think that these procedures can be performed at a follow-up visit, therefore we don't think PROCPR 40V78 is needed here. (As far as we can see in “2024-10-25_Combined2025PR1_xls.xlsx” the plus code PHXX90 does not have PROCPR 40V78).
8. The PROCPRs mentioned above refer to the plus code PJXX05 (Needle biopsy of lymph node) which were our initially mapping suggestion for TPJ30. Later we changed the mapping suggestion to PJXX10 (Puncture of lymphocele) and as far as we can see in “2024-10-25_Combined2025PR1_xls.xlsx” this plus code has only OR 2 and no PROCPRs (except for 05O23 in ice version).
